The Milwaukee Press Club invites the public to vote to decide the best brand name for a special, limited edition, bottled water to celebrate the City of Milwaukee's 163rd Birthday. The club’s water-naming contest was launched in October, resulting in nearly 200 brand name suggestions. The club selected 15 name brands as finalists, based on their creativity and ability to reflect the importance of water as a resource for Milwaukee and the region.
The public is encouraged to vote for their favorite by visiting the press club’s web site: www.milwaukeepressclub/watercontest
Six-packs of the limited supply of bottled water will be given out at the City of Milwaukee’s 163rd Birthday Party January 27, 2009, and to Milwaukee Press Club members throughout the year. The winning name and tagline will also be recognized in the Press Club’s Once a Year magazine.
The finalists include:
· MKE H20: Better Than Beer
· Pure Midwest: The Water That Made Milwaukee Famous
· Brew City Blue: From the Bluetiful Shores of Lake Michigan
· Blueski: The Next Best Thing on Tap
· BrewTown Blue: The Foundation of Milwaukee’s Fame

It wasn't until college that I learned that Milwaukee seems to be the only place around in which locals refer to drinking fountains as "bubblers". Boy, did that term confuse, even aggravate, students at my college who hailed from other parts of the country, hehe.
